about
Connected via a mutual fascination with beats, vinyl records, keyboards, synths and microphones, Tracks Haven twosome 'Doctor' Giles Allen and Mark 'Blackie' Blackburn came together to create a refuge of recording music away from the din and hubbub of everyday life.
Engineering an exotic blend of electronica, breaks, samples, live vocals and head nodding atmospherics, Tracks Haven share a background in music production, live performance and DJing, from Giles helming the Carbon Logic label, to Blackie working with Kinobe, the lounge laureate behind the millennial, Kronenbourg-scoring ‘Slip into Something More Comfortable’.
In bidding to delve into the sonics of what makes us tick, their appearance on the Fabyl compilation ‘Arrival’ was lauded as a “certified party-starter” by Mixmag, and the Haven have had their say on the BBC Music Introducing network. Blackie and Giles’ revisiting of vocal takes previously left dormant in digital vaults, has given new life to original musical compositions and arrangements now sounding stronger and fresher than ever.
The first single from forthcoming album ‘Beyond the Shadow of Doubt’ is ‘Can I Have a Moment’, featuring the vocal talents of NYC vocalist C-JAY, with whom Giles first recorded several tracks while running Carbon Logic. Stoked with drum & bass electricity and anticipation, but pulled back into something approaching wired, seductively slithering soul via a curveball of piano serenity, it’s a twilight track, as is the Fabyl way, to be taken under the wing of a variety of playlists.
